Commission Approves Trans-Texas Corridor Advisory Committees

12/21/2007

On Thursday December 13, the Texas Transportation Commission approved the establishment of planning committees for TTC-35 and I-69/TTC. The committees will serve to enhance public involvement during the on-going Trans-Texas Corridor environmental studies and provide guidance on maximizing the corridors benefit to local communities.

Each committee will have up to 24 members which will be comprised of property owners, business owners, representatives of local governments, technical experts and other interested citizens. Additional committees that will consider specific segments of the larger corridors will also be formed. These committees will have up to 24 members as well. Members of these committees will be appointed by local entities or groups within the corridor segment.

Committee members are expected to be named early next year. All advisory committees will report their recommendations to TxDOT’s executive director, Amadeo Saenz. "Through the advisory committees, local officials and citizens can be more involved in the planning process than ever before," said Ted Houghton, member of the Texas Transportation Commission. "They will have a huge say in shaping the Trans-Texas Corridor."
